I’ll shut up about it eventually, I promise, but the reason this is so important is because The Killers are such an AMERICAN band. They are proud Americans, blasting their roots all over the world, before they say hi to you they tell you where they come from (fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada), tons of their songs feature locations and imagery from all over the country, their sets featured state flags, because of Brandon they are seen as very religious; all these things make them so appealing to republicans. They could have stayed silent and loved by both sides. But they decided to take a stand KNOWING this would cost them fans = money and they didn’t care. They knew they’d get a lot of backlash and they went on and did it anyway and let everyone know what they stand for and I am so proud of my band and I love them forever.
Despite what liberals say, an ‘x’ marker on government identification is not a step forward for trans and nonbinary inclusion, it is a creation of a masterlist of trans and/or nonbinary people, it is just another chance to be mistreated and catalogued by a government that does not want us to exist. A true ‘step forward’ for trans and nonbinary inclusion would be the removal of gender markers from all government documentation.
